Tempered glass, dishwashers, engraved mirrors, and turnaround.
Most glass engraves well: soda-lime glass such as bottles and drinking glasses, borosilicate glass like Pyrex, and lead crystal. The exception is tempered glass, used in cookware and some car windows, which is under permanent internal tension and can shatter from the thermal stress. That is why we look at a piece before it goes on the machine, and we will tell you if we think it is a risk.
Yes. Laser engraving on glass is permanent and dishwasher safe, and the frosted mark will not wash off or fade. Hand washing is still worth it for thin or delicate glassware, but that is to protect the glass, not the engraving. Nothing a dishwasher does will touch the mark itself.
Yes, and engraved mirror is one of the more striking things we make. The laser removes the reflective backing exactly where your design sits, so light passes through the design while the rest of the panel still reflects. Put a light source behind it and the artwork glows. Popular for home bars, salons and business signage.
Glass engraving takes 3 to 5 business days after you approve the proof. Glass we supply and glass you bring in run on the same schedule. The one exception is a piece we have not marked before, where we will want to test a sample first, and we will say so upfront if that adds a day.
